Cigar City Warmer Winter Winter Warmer

My buddy Matt brought over a bottle of Cigar City Warmer Winter Winter Warmer to share. The beer pours a brown color with a frothy beige colored head. The aroma consists of caramel, sugar, citrus hints, and raisin. The taste is smooth and malty with plenty of caramel and raisin flavors on the front end. There is a bit of a boozy and warming finish with some pepper and a bit of plum flavors. The alcohol content 10.0% ABV. As far as winter warmers, Cigar City’s was a solid offering. It was boozy and sweet, but had enough balance in citrus and pepper to keep it from being overly sweet.

Captain Lawrence Nor' Easter Winter Warmer

I received a bottle of Captain Lawrence Nor’ Easter Winter Warmer from Lee of Hoptopia in a beer trade. The beer pours a dark brown color with a frothy tan head that has minimal lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of elderberries, chocolate, toasted malts, vanilla, and coffee. The taste is smooth and chocolaty before a biting toasted malts kicks in. The finish brings out the elderberries with a slight tartness and vanilla, coffee, and oak accents. The alcohol content is 12.0% ABV. The elderberry tart accents nestled into the chocolate and toasted malts made for a great workout on the tongue and a very enjoyable drink.

Harpoon Winter Warmer

I picked up a six-pack of Harpoon Winter Warmer from Wegman's. The beer has an amber color with a light head. The smell is full of cinnamon and all spice. The taste is malty with heavy accents of nutmeg and allspice on the front end, and it finishes dry with cinnamon. The alcohol content is 5.5% ABV. I thought that this beer was a little too heavy on the spices, slightly impairing the experience. While I would drink this beer again if it was offered to me, I probably would not pick up another six-pack of the Winter Warmer.
