Philadelphia Brewing Shackamaximum Imperial Stout

I received a bottle of Philadelphia Brewing Shackamaximum Imperial Stout from my friend Mark. The beer pours a black color with a frothy beige-colored head that leaves specs of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of chocolate, plenty of toasted malts, hints of smoke, and vanilla. The taste is dry and has plenty of dark Belgian-like chocolates, toasted malts, vanilla, and caramel. The finish has an oakiness to it that is nice and dry. The alcohol content is 10.0% ABV. This was a rather tasty Imperial Stout with a great roasted flavor and a light vanilla flavor, all built upon a great dark chocolate base.

Philadelphia Winter Wunder

On my birthday weekend in Pittsburgh, I ordered a glass of Philadelphia Brewing Winter Wunder at Buffalo Blues. The beer pours a dark amber color that is almost brown with a foamy tan head. The aroma consists of toasted malts with chocolate accents. The taste is chocolate with toasted malts and a good pine hop accent. The 6.5% ABV. The Winter Wunder is a delicious brew that has a good balance of toasted malts and chocolate without sacrificing the hops in the beer.

Philadelphia Pennsylvania Pale Ale

Based on the recommendation from the guys at Spaz Beverage in West Chester, I picked up a case of Philadelphia Brewing Company Pennsylvania Pale Ale. The beer pours an amber color with a frothy white head. The aroma consists of caramel with a nice helping of fresh pine hops. The taste starts out with smooth and sweet caramel before the fresh pine hops come into play, providing a great accent and a slightly bitter after taste. The alcohol content is 5.0% ABV. The Pennsylvania Pale Ale is a top notch pale ale. The hops provide the right amount accent without bittering too much on the finish. I highly recommend checking this beer out if you can.

Philadelphia Rowhouse Red

I picked up a bottle of Philadelphia Rowhouse Red. The beer has a red copper color with almost no head. The aroma is malty and hints at hops. The taste is light and malty at first and finishes with a hop bite that tastes like pepper and toasted malts, but not a good taste of roasted malts. The alcohol content is 5.0% ABV. I thought that this was not a very good beer, and I wouldn't necessarily buy more of it. I think that the hop accent didn't accentuate the flavor but actually hindered it.
