Green Flash Imperial IPA

I ordered a glass of Green Flash Imperial IPA while at Al's of Hampden. The beer pours a copper color with a bubbly white head. The aroma consists of caramel and pepper with light lemon. The taste is big on caramel and toffee with a good bitter hop bite consisting of pepper and lemon. The alcohol content is 9.4% ABV. The Imperial IPA from Green Flash was very delicious and had a great balance. The sweetness did a good job of hiding the alcohol well, so this can be a very dangerous brew.

Captain Lawrence Captain's Reserve Imperial India Pale Ale

While in New Jersey on my last visits, I picked up a bottle of Captain Lawrence Captain's Reserve Imperial India Pale Ale. The beer pours a beautiful golden color with a foamy white head. The aroma consists of lemon and wheat grass with a slight hint of orange peel and pepper. The taste is full of lemon and caramel and has a nice bitter hop finish, mostly of the pine descent. The back of the mouth with receive some punishment from the hops in this beer. After the beer has dissipated, the mouth is left with a the aftertaste of eating mustard. The alcohol content is 9.0% ABV. I thought this was a better than moderate Imperial India Pale Ale. There was plenty of helpings of hops in this beer, but they were balanced out nicely with the caramel and citrus flavors.
