Troegs Java Head Float

As part of the grand opening celebration, I stopped in to the new Troegs brewing facility (T2), and I decided to order a Java Head float. Yes, Java Head with ice cream. The beer pours a murky color with vanilla brand hanging to the lacing and frothy white head. The aroma consists of light chocolate but plenty of milk and vanilla. The taste is large on mocha and is milky smooth in the mouth with plenty of coffee. There are hints of chocolate on the finish that dry the mouth out a bit. The alcohol content is 7.5% ABV, as with the regular Java Head. This was a wonderful concoction that Troegs serves up for an extra $2. If you stop in to check the place out, I suggest you give this drink a try, especially when it gets warmer out and you can sit on the new patio.

Troegs Java Head with Vanilla Beans and Bravo Dry Hop

I stopped into Al's of Hampden after receiving a tweet from Al that he just tapped Troegs Java Head with Vanilla Beans and Bravo Dry Hop on hand pump. I could not contain my excitement to try this beer. The aroma has good helping of vanilla accenting chocolate with a pine background. The taste is smooth and creamy with dry chocolate bite but smooth vanilla finish. The aftertaste is piney and satisfying. As with the Java Head, the alcohol content is 7.5% ABV. What an amazing reincarnation of an already great beer. The vanilla added smooth and sweet notes to the finish that was also helped with the creaminess that the hand pump adds.

Troegs Java Head Oatmeal Stout

Yesterday I picked up a couple of 22-ounce bottles of Troegs Java Head Oatmeal Stout. This product was released for the first time on August 25 (yesterday). It was an awesome experience, as they workers were literally pulling bottles off of the line and putting them into the refrigerator. I waited 10 minutes until they started to bottle, but it was well worth the wait. The beer is dark black with a chocolate aroma with a hint of coffee. The taste is smooth, milky, and slightly bitter. The coffee taste is not overpowering, but provides a nice accent. The alcohol content is 7.5% ABV. I think Troegs hit a home run with their new coffee stout. The taste is bitter, but not in a bad way. There is a complimentary hop accent and the coffee rounds out the experience. The only thing Troegs has left to do is create a pint glass with the Java Head Oatmeal Stout logo, which I will immediately buy. Your move Troegs!
