Boxcar Mango Ginger IPA

While at Duke’s Riverside Bar and Grill I ordered a glass of Boxcar Mango Ginger IPA. The beer pours a golden color with a frothy white colored head. The aroma consists of mango, caramel, ginger, and pepper. The taste is spicy with ginger, a light mango sweetness, and plenty of a caramel background. Pepper and grass spice up the finish. The alcohol content is 7.0% ABV. This was a simple beer with great entry level IPA taste. It definitely erred on the fruity side rather than the bitter side, but the ginger flavor helped appease my tongue a little bit.

Boxcar Original Ale

A new brewery has opened recently in West Chester called Boxcar Brewing Company, and I was able to order a glass of the Original Ale while out on the town in West Chester. The beer pours a pale yellow color with almost no head. The aroma is faint but has some wheat, lemon and light hops. The taste is smooth and sweet with sour hops and sweet malts. The is a background of citrus with lemon and grapefruit. The alcohol content is 5.0% ABV. I thought the Original Ale had a very good balance and was a solid performer for the first beer from a new brewery. If I can tell anything from Boxcar's infancy, it's that they have a great potential and will make some more great beers in the future.
