Green Flash Double Stout Black Ale

My buddy Adam brought over a bottle of Green Flash Double Stout Black Ale to share. The beer pours a black color with a frothy tan colored head that leaves a thin lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of chocolate, vanilla, toasted malts, and caramel. The taste is smooth and chocolaty with a bold flavor. Some toasted malts come into play with a dry finish that has a touch of caramel and vanilla. The alcohol content is 8.8% ABV. This was a wonderful stout with robust chocolate flavors and a nice, dry finish with plenty of toasted malts.

Green Flash Palate Wrecker

I picked up a four-pack of Green Flash Palate Wrecker from Al’s of Hampden. The beer pours a beautiful amber color with a lofty and frothy white head that leaves some lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of tangerine, orange, grapefruit, marijuana, pepper, and spruce. The taste is bitter dry with tangerine, pink grapefruit, orange, and lemon citrus flavors on the front end. Pepper and spruce come out and completely dry the mouth and leaves a thin film on the mouth. The alcohol content is 9.5% ABV. This was such a wonderfully bitter beer with so much citrus flavor. The aroma reminded me of the hop candies that are sold at various places, and the flavor was even better.

Green Flash Rayon Vert Belgian-style Pale Ale

Another bottle I received in a beer trade with Beer Club 4 Men was Green Flash Rayon Vert Belgian-style Pale Ale. The beer pours an amber color with an extremely lofty and frothy white head that leaves some lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of lemon, barnyard funk, grass, pepper, and hay. The taste is light and dry with plenty of pepper and hay on the front end. It has a bit of lemon flavor to it with some funkiness on the finish. The alcohol content is 7.0% ABV. I really enjoyed this Belgian-style Pale Ale with a wonderful dry finish and a good funkiness to it.

Green Flash West Coast IPA

Al’s of Hampden had on a fresh keg of Green Flash West Coast IPA, so I decided to order a glass. The beer pours a copper color with a frothy off-white colored head. The aroma consists of grapefruit, tangerine, orange, lemon, pine, caramel, passion fruit, and reminded me of orange gummy candies. The taste is smooth at first with citrus including grapefruit, tangerine, orange, lemon, some passion fruit. There is a bitter finish with pepper and pine accents. The alcohol content is 7.3% ABV. This was a great IPA and the freshness spoke for itself, as the amount of citrus packed in to one glass was awe-inspiring.

St. Feuillien-Green Flash Biere de L’amitie

​My buddy Matt brought over a bottle of the St. Feuillien-Green Flash collaboration Biere de L’amitie. The beer pours a golden color with a lofty and frothy white head. The aroma consists of lemon peel, meringue, pepper, and orange. The taste is spicy with lots of citrus flavors as well. There is orange, lemon, and wheat flavors before some meringue comes in to sweeten up the flavor. A biscuit flavor comes out before there is pepper, grassy hops, and oregano. The alcohol content is 9.5% ABV. The beer was light on the tongue and quite refreshing with plenty of citrus flavors. The spices that come through are intense, but quite enjoyable.

Stone-Green Flash-Pizza Port Carlsbad Highway 78 Scotch Ale

My buddy Stoner picked me up a few bottles of the Stone/Green Flash/Pizza Port Carlsbad collaboration Highway 78 Scotch Ale. The beer pours a dark amber color with a foamy off-white colored head. The aroma consists of lots of caramel, toasted malts, and pine hops. The taste is smooth and sweet with a big caramel helping before a toasted malts flavor kicks in. A drying finish comes out to play with pine hops, balancing the sweetness in the beer. The alcohol consists of 8.8% ABV. The caramel sweetness of this beer is most excellent and is balanced nicely with the pine hops, making an enjoyable drinking experience.

Green Flash Imperial IPA

I ordered a glass of Green Flash Imperial IPA while at Al's of Hampden. The beer pours a copper color with a bubbly white head. The aroma consists of caramel and pepper with light lemon. The taste is big on caramel and toffee with a good bitter hop bite consisting of pepper and lemon. The alcohol content is 9.4% ABV. The Imperial IPA from Green Flash was very delicious and had a great balance. The sweetness did a good job of hiding the alcohol well, so this can be a very dangerous brew.

Green Flash Le Freak

While in Pittsburgh, I went to Fat Head's and they had Green Flash Le Freak on draft. The beer pours an orange amber color with a thin bubbly white head. The aroma has orange and lemon with some pepper. The taste has banana with orange and lemon, and some clove and green apple is mixed in there as well. The beer has a nice hop bite, as it finishes with pepper on the back of the mouth. The alcohol content is 9.3% ABV. I thought that the Le Freak was delicious and exactly what I needed on a warm spring day. The temperature was 81 degrees, and the beer paired really well with the weather.
