Twisted Pine Hoppy Boy IPA

I picked up a four-pack of Twisted Pine Hoppy Boy IPA from the brewery and tried one at my friend's apartment in Denver. The beer pours an amber color with a frothy white colored head. The aroma consists of hop funk, tangerine, orange, lemon, and pine. The taste is dry, hoppy, and oily with plenty of citrus flavors including tangerine, orange, and grapefruit. On the finish, a hop funk, with fresh hop oils and lemon and spruce accents arrive. The alcohol content is 6.0% ABV. I enjoyed how fresh tasting this beer was and also enjoyed that it comes in tall-boy cans for easy transport. It was nice not to have to worry about these vessels breaking in my suitcase on the way home.

Twisted Pine Reilly's Oak Whiskey Red

At Twisted Pine in Boulder, I ordered a glass of Reilly's Oak Whiskey Red. The beer pours a red-tinted brown color with a frothy beige colored head. The aroma consists of oak, whiskey, caramel, and grass. The taste is bold with whiskey on the front end and an oak dryness. Peat, caramel, and grass flavors all surface and the finish has a warmness to it with some rye spice. The alcohol content is 5.6% ABV. I thoroughly enjoyed drinking this beer with its warming qualities and great whiskey flavor.

Twisted Pine Honey Brown Ale

When my fiancee and I went out to lunch in Boulder, I ordered a glass of Twisted Pine Honey Brown Ale. The beer pours a brown color with a bubbly off-white colored head. The aroma consists of toasted malts, coffee, caramel, and honey. The taste is not as dry as most brown ales, as the honey smoothes out the flavor. Toasted malts hide in the background with hints of coffee, mocha, and a touch of caramel. The alcohol content is 6.0% ABV. The slight honey sweetness to this beer made all of the difference and made it easy to drink while bringing along the typical brown ale flavors.

Twisted Pine Mr. Brown's Pumpkin

To ease the burning pain of the Ghost Face Killah, I ordered a glass of Twisted Pine Mr. Brown's Pumpkin Ale. The beer pours a brown color with a red tint and a giant beige head. The aroma consists of fresh pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and caramel. The taste is roasted malts with a light pumpkin flavor, dry cinnamon, and nutmeg. The alcohol content is not available online, but I would guess it to be about 5.5% ABV. While I thought there was more pumpkin in the aroma than there was on the palate, it was delicious as this beer is about the dry spices.

Twisted Pine Brewing Company Ghost Face Killah

While in Boulder, my fiancee and I stopped in to Twisted Pine Brewing Company. I've heard so much about their Ghost Face Killah that I decided to order a bottle. The beer pours a straw-gold color with a thin white head. The aroma is peppery, and not that pansy table top stuff, but the stuff that makes your eyes water with some wheat accents. The taste is light and lemon at first and then Bam! Holy f-in pepper. This is the spiciest beer I've ever had and within moments my lips tingled with fire, I was sweating, and my face went numb. The alcohol content is 5.0% ABV. While I love spicy foods, this beer was not enjoyable and I finished about a quarter of a bottle before sharing it with some other people in the bar. I consider this a gag beer that everyone could split a shot of, similar to a prairie fire shot, but would not order or drink a whole bottle myself.
