Dry Dock The Ambassador

Another beer made available to the Colorado Brewer's Guild Brunch at Freshcraft was Dry Dock's The Ambassador, a barrel aged sour. The beer pours a golden color with specks of white colored head floating atop the liquid. The aroma consists of vinegar, funk, tart cherry, oak, and lemon. The taste is tart and very puckering with lemon, wheat, and tart cherry. A dry oak finish accompanied with plenty of vinegar all around rounded out the flavors. The alcohol content is 6.2% ABV. The Ambassador was an,amazing beer that announces its sour presence with all of vigor of vinegar.

Dry Dock Belgian IPA

On my way out of Denver, I stopped in to Dry Dock Brewing to claim the West Coast Bar Hop badge from Untappd. The beer I ordered was the Belgian IPA, a recipe that came from the winner of a home brew competition. The beer pours a golden color with a bubbly white head. The aroma consists of banana, pepper, Belgian yeast and Belgian spices. The taste is smooth but biting, surprisingly a little sour with lemon, and lots of pepper and spices. There are some bitter grassy hops. The alcohol content is 6.7% ABV. At first, I was not really impressed with but it grew on me. I thought that the bitterness took away from the enjoyment of the beer, but as it warmed, some of the sweetness reclaimed its place in the beer and provided enough balance to make this an enjoyable beer.

Dry Dock Seven Seas Double IPA

I ordered a glass of the Dry Dock Seven Seas Double IPA on my visit to Denver for the 2010 Great American Beer Fest. The beer pours an orange amber opaque color with a thin bubbly white head. The aroma is big on grapefruit and orange. The taste has a lot of grapefruit on the front end accompanied with plenty of sugar. Background flavors include orange and tangerine. The after taste is smooth and citrusy. The alcohol content is 8.5% ABV. The Seven Seas Double IPA was delicious brew but completely had an unexpected look, as it was opaque and slightly more yellow than the Double IPAs that I am used to seeing. Big points on being different, Dry Dock.

Dry Dock Enterprise IPA

Another beer I ordered at Dry Dock Brewing Company in Denver was the Enterprise IPA. The beer pours a golden color with a frothy white head. The aroma consists of lemon and meringue with a big pine hit. The taste is large on pine, very bubbly, and has some lemon accents. The beer has a dry finish with a pine cone after taste. The alcohol content is 6.4% ABV. I thought that the Enterprise IPA was an excellent IPA offering and very delicious. I enjoyed how there was more of a pine cone flavor than just pine, making it slightly different that a stock IPA.

Dry Dock Bligh's Old Ale

Dry Dock Brewing Company won Small Brewing Company of the year at Great American Beer Fest in 2009, so on my visit in 2010, I decided to stop in and check out a few of their offerings. One of the beers I ordered was Bligh's Old Ale. The beer pours a copper color with a thin filmy off-white head. The aroma consists of caramel with raisins and dark fruits. The taste is sweet and malty with lots of raisin, oak accents, and a healthy offering of dark fruits on the finish. The alcohol content is 6.9% ABV. I thought that Bligh's Old Ale was quite a smooth drinker, but I did expect it to have a higher alcohol content. The oak accents the alcohol content somewhat, making it jump out on the tongue more so than expected.
