Brouwerij De Molen Zomerhop

My June shipment from the Rare Beer of the Month Club included a bottle of Brouwerij De Molen Zomerhop.  The beer pours a golden color with an extremely lofty white head that leaps out of the glass. Furthermore, the cork popped right off the bottle when I was untwisting the cage. The aroma consists of orange, tangerine, grapefruit, orange, candy, and grass. The taste is dry and light bodied with a great citrus profile. Orange, tangerine, grapefruit, and lemon all show up for the party. There is a light peppery finish with a hint of dryness to it. The alcohol content is 6.2% ABV. I liked the bitter hop presence of the beer while it had a light body.

Brouwerij de Molen Hel & Verdoemenis

My buddy Adam brought over a bottle of Brouwerij de Molen Hel & Verdoemenis to share with me. The beer pours a dark brown color with a frothy mocha colored head that leaves some lacing on the glass. The aroma is chocolate, toasted malts, vanilla, brown sugar, and coffee. The taste is big on coffee, chocolate, and toasted malts. On the finish, vanilla and brown sugar smooth out the flavor. The after taste leaves a warming alcohol burn and a bit of pepper on the back on the throat. The alcohol content is 10.2% ABV. This was a smooth drinking beer, but definitely beware of the warming alcohol finish on it. It really hits the back of the mouth, but is an exceptional beer.

Brouwerij de Molen Black Damnation II- Mocha Bomb

As part of a beer trade with Lee from Hoptopia, I received a bottle of Brouwerij de Molen Black Damnation II- Mocha Bomb. The beer pours a deep, dark black color with a very frothy and tan head, with a great lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of heaps of coffee with deep black Belgian chocolate taking over the nostrils. The taste is bold and chocolaty with lots of coffee, espresso, toasted malts, and a hint of vanilla. The finish is drying with a nice bite of bourbon alcohol. The alcohol content is 12.0% ABV. Wow, what a powerful punch of dark chocolate and coffee that is packed into this one bottle of beer. I loved the dryness of the Belgian chocolate, and the bourbon alcohol kick at the end doesn’t hurt either.

Brouwerij de Molen Storm & Averij

I must admit that I have fallen in love with the Falling Rock Tap House in Denver. This will be my go to craft bar for all future visits, as their draft and bottle selection is superior to almost any place I have been. One of the bottles I selected from the list was the Brouwerij de Molen Storm & Averij. The beer pours a golden color with a lofty frothy white head. The aroma consists of fresh hops, lemon, grass, earth, and yeast. The taste is smooth but bitey, big on yeast and banana, and has copious amounts of spices. Following all of that flavor explosion is a big hop finish that lingers into the after taste. The alcohol content is 9.2%. Wow. Wow. Wow. The amount of flavors actually packed into the bottle were amazing, and I passed this beer around to several other craft beer lovers. Each one of them reacted similarly, and it could been seen in their eyes. If you can get your hands onto one of these bottles, jump at the chance to do so.
