Wild Heaven Ode to Mercy Imperial Brown Ale

As part of my beer trade with Lance Martin (Beers of the Night) and Alfred Hugh Leonard III, I received a bottle of Wild Heaven Ode to Mercy Imperial Brown Ale. The beer pours a dark brown color with a frothy tan head that leaves a nice lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of chocolate, toasted malts, peanuts, and vanilla. The taste is very roasty and has plenty of toasted malts right up front before a nice chocolate sweetness comes out to provide the backbone of the beer. There are hints of mocha and vanilla on the finish, and the after taste leaves some peanut flavoring behind. The alcohol content is 8.2% ABV. While this beer starts of bitter and dry with plenty of roasted flavors, it sweetens on the finish with milk chocolate and vanilla, providing a wonderful flavor profile. This may have shot to the top of my list of favorite brown ales.

Wild Heaven Invocation

As part of a beer trade with Lance Martin (Beers of the Night) and Alfred Hugh Leonard III I received a bottle of Wild Heaven Invocation, a Belgian-style Golden Ale. The beer pours an orange-colored golden color with a foamy white head. The aroma consists of yeast, orange, lemon, spices, pepper, and coriander. The taste is bitter and slightly smoky with some charcoal, pepper, and coriander. After the dryness and spiciness subsides some orange and lemon come out to smooth on the tongue. The alcohol content is 8.5% ABV. The smoky and charcoal flavor in this beer was unexpected, but enjoyable. It is much more dry than I anticipated, but I would recommend this to anyone.
