New Glarus Thumbprint Series Unplugged Enigma

As part of a beer trade with the Beer Club 4 Men, I received a bottle of New Glarus Thumbprint Series Unplugged Enigma. The beer pours a red-tinted amber color with a foamy white colored head that disappeared rapidly. The aroma consists of cherry, pie crust, sugar, and oak. The taste is puckering and has a strong tart cherry and raspberry flavor. Vinegar engulfs the tongue before actually causing it to salivate. The finish brings out an oak dryness and a sugary sweetness. The alcohol content is 5.5% ABV. The tartness of this beer mixed with the complexities of sugary fruit all bridged with an oak dryness led my tongue on a puckery joyride.

New Glarus Thumbprint Barley Wine

My buddy Bob gave me a bottle of New Glarus Thumbprint Barley Wine to try. The beer pours an amber color with a frothy white head that is about a finger’s width. The aroma consists of raisin, orange, fig, caramel, pepper, and lemon. The taste is fruit forward with orange, lemon, and fig with a bold caramel base. A spicy pepper finish comes out with a warming alcohol burn on the finish. The alcohol content is 12.0% ABV. I liked how fruity this beer was, and the nice warming alcohol burn really helped the soul.

New Glarus Thumbprint (Unplugged) Cherry Stout

My buddy Bob gave me a bottle of New Glarus Thumbprint (Unplugged) Cherry Stout while we were on our beer tour. The beer pours a dark brown color with a frothy cream colored head. It poured lighter and thinner than I expected. The aroma consists of fresh cherries, syrup, chocolate, toasted malts, and coffee. The taste is tart and very cherry forward with fresh cherry taste as well as a cherry syrup. There is a chocolate and toasted malt undertone, and the beer finishes with a nice coffee flavor. The alcohol content is 6.5% ABV. I was pretty impressed with the flavor in this beer, as the tartness was on the front end and the coffee finish was a nice touch.

New Glarus Thumbprint Chocolate Abbey

I received a bottle of New Glarus Thumbprint Chocolate Abbey from RealStormKing in a beer trade. The beer pours a dark brown color with a frothy beige colored head that leaves some slight lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of chocolate, raisin, fig, and caramel. The taste is smooth and chocolaty, similar to hot chocolate, with a solid base of chocolate, fig, caramel, and toasted malts. The finish is rather bubbly, and the after taste leaves some earthy and grassy hops linger behind in the mouth. The alcohol content is not available online, but I wold estimate it to be about 8.0% ABV. The chocolate additions to this Belgian dubbel was overly enjoyable. It provided a great dry and chocolaty accent to the sweet flavors of raisin and fig.
