Oskar Blues Winter Fidy

While at Al’s of Hampden, I ordered a glass of Oskar Blues Winter Fidy, a beer that I was not aware existed. The beer pours a black color with a frothy tan head. The aroma consists of juniper, cardamom, chocolate, and a healthy helping of alcohol. The taste is smooth and chocolaty with good juniper and cardamom accents. The floral side of this beer is amazing and alcohol is well hidden, but it really provides an experience like no other beer. Some coffee flavor peeks through on the finish. The alcohol content is 10.5% ABV. The balance of flowers and chocolate worked better than I could have ever imagined and I really want to have another glass of this beer.

Oskar Blues Ten Fidy

Another brewery I stopped into with my friends while in the Denver area was Oskar Blues. With dinner, I ordered a glass of the Ten Fidy. The beer pours a black color with a tan filmy head. The aroma consists of chocolate with oak and alcohol accents lingering. The taste is big on chocolate with some good oak accents. Hidden behind the oak wall is some raisin and toffee flavors. The Ten Fidy was quite smooth while drinking, but quite bitey with the alcohol finish. The alcohol content is 9.6% ABV. I really enjoyed the Ten Fidy, as oak accents and chocolate are two things in a beer that make me very happy.
