Boulevard-Pretty Things Smokestack Series Collaboration No. 3- Stingo

I ordered a bottle of the Boulevard-Pretty Things Smokestack Series Collaboration No. 3- Stingo while at Max's in Baltimore. The beer pours a brown color with a frothy beige colored head. The aroma consists of caramel, toffee, grass, and wet leaves. The taste is sweet and spicy with raisin, toffee, and caramel flavors on the front end. There is a grassy finish with a coffee after taste that lingers. The alcohol content is 8.5% ABV. I've only had the Yorkshire Stingo to compare this beer to, but it was absolutely incredible. Nice earth tones provided spiciness while the yeast and malts gave the beer a balancing sweetness.

Boulevard Smokestack Series Saison Brett

My friend and fellow blogger Russ Beck brought a bottle of Boulevard Smokestack Series Saison Brett over to share with a few friends and me. The beer pours a golden color with a frothy white head. The aroma is funky with hay, barnyard funk, and lemon, mostly as expected. The taste is very funky (more so than the aroma!) and dry and provides plenty of hay, lemon, and pepper. Finishing out the experience, coriander and orange come out, which were pleasant but unexpected. The alcohol content is 8.5% ABV. This beer was right in line with the quality I’ve experienced from Boulevard in their Smokestack Series. I was plenty funky and had all of the right flavors, and completely impressed me with the light orange and coriander flavors on the finish.

Boulevard Smokestack Series Dark Truth Stout

I received a bottle of Boulevard Smokestack Series Dark Truth Stout as an extra from Bob Pack. The beer pours a black color with a frothy tan head that leaves some lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of chocolate, smoke, toasted malts, and vanilla. The taste is very dry and extremely smoky, similar to a charcoal grill. Behind the smoke, there is some dark chocolate, toasted malts, and and light vanilla flavor. The finish is dry and really brings out the toasted malts. The alcohol content is 9.7% ABV. This beer has a great smoke content, and starts out that way, but the best part about it is the smoked malts that come out in the finish. It is dark and chocolaty, but all about the toast and smoke.
