Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel

While sharing beer with some friends, my buddy Matt popped open a bottle of Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel. The fun story with this beer is that the coffee used is actually chewed and then excreted by the weasel-like civet cats before brewing. The beer pours a black color with a frothy tan head. The aroma is full of coffee and has some chocolate, toasted malts, nuts, and vanilla. The taste is dry and biting with dark and bitter coffee, some hints of vanilla, and a big alcohol bite that warms the soul. The alcohol content is 10.9% ABV. There are lots of dark flavors with a great bitter coffee bite in this beer and enough warmth to rock the soul.

Mikkeller Beer Hop Breakfast

My buddy Matt brought over a bottle of Mikkeller Beer Hop Breakfast to share amongst some friends. The beer pours a black color with a frothy tan head. The aroma consists of pine and lemon hops, chocolate, molasses, and coffee. The mouth feel is thick and the taste is chocolaty at first with a molasses weight on the tongue. It dries out on the finish with lemon, pine, and spruce. There is a light coffee after taste with lots of dryness. The alcohol content is 7.5% ABV. The Beer Hop Breakfast was so thick and delicious, a perfect beer for the hop lover. It has lots of bitterness built upon thick, sweet, and syrupy body.

Mikkeller Beer Geek Bacon

On a recent visit to TJ’s Restaurant & Drinkery, I ordered a glass of Mikkeller Beer Geek Bacon, or Rausch Geek Breakfast. It is known as the latter in the States due to the fact that it contains no actual bacon and the FDA will not permit the beer to be advertised that way. It’s flavors comes from the smoking of the malts, not by adding bacon. The beer pours a black color with a thick frothy tan head. The aroma consists of bacon, toasted malts, smoke, chocolate, and molasses. The taste is thick and heavy with plenty of chocolate flavor and lots of smoke. Toasted malts also appear up front before the bacon comes in on the finish with molasses. The after taste has a vanilla sweetness that removes the smoke from the mouth. The alcohol content is 7.5% ABV. The Beer Geek Bacon had a really good flavor without providing too much smoke or bacon flavors and I would definitely seek this beer out again.

Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast

I decided to start my day off right today with Mikkeller's Beer Geek Breakfast. This beer is an oatmeal stout brewed with coffee with an ABV of 7.5%. I wasn't totally impressed with my first sip, but after each successive sip, I enjoyed the beer more and more. The coffee taste is not overwhelming, but it definitely gives a bit of a caffeine kick. By the bottom of the bottle, the full effect of the beer takes its course and I highly recommend trying this beer if you like stouts or coffee.
