Harpoon Summer Beer
While out to dinner at The Black Gryphon in Elizabethtown, I ordered a glass of Harpoon Summer Beer. The beer pours a golden color with a thin filmy white head. The aroma consists of sweet malts, grass, and a light pepper accent. The taste is smooth and malty with a slight pepper spice on finish. The after taste leaves some grass on the tongue, which reminds me of summer. The alcohol content is 5.5% ABV. Anyone that knows me is aware that I am picky with the kolsch beer that I drink, and I would say that Harpoon’s offering is not as fresh and clean as I would like. I wouldn’t put it in a bad beer category, just that it did not live up to my expectations.
