Ithaca Excelsior Thirteen
I picked up a bottle of Ithaca Excelsior Thirteen in a beer trade with Lee from Hoptopia. The beer pours a a golden color with a frothy white head that laces on the glass. The aroma consists of orange and lemon peel, wheat, pepper, and lemongrass. The taste is smooth and sweet with lots of wheat accented nicely with lemon and orange peel. The finish bites a little bit with pepper, but balances nicely. The alcohol content is 9.0% ABV. I enjoyed the citrus sweetness balanced nicely with the pepper hops, all combining for a refreshing and complex beer.
