Long Trail Hibernator

I picked up a bottle of Long Trail Hibernator from D's Six Pax and Dogz. The beer has an amber color with a thin white filmy head. The smell consists of sweet malts. The taste is lightly spicy on the front and has a smooth malty flavor in the middle. It finishes with a light dry hop finish. The alcohol content is 5.6% ABV. I thought this was a nicely put together beer and it goes nicely with a winter night, but it has enough hops to make you think of summer.

Wolaver's Alta Gracia Coffee Porter

I picked up a bottle of Wolaver's Alta Gracia Coffee Porter from D's Six Pax and Dogz in Pittsburgh. This beer is certified organic, from the beer ingredients to the coffee that is added. It has a deep dark brown color with a thin tan bubbly head. There is a strong and rich coffee aroma with this beer. The taste is full of bitter coffee and bitter chocolate with some vanilla lacing. It finishes a little dry. There is no alcohol content posted on the website, but I would guess between 6% and 7% ABV. I thought that this coffee porter was decent and drinkable, but somewhat pedestrian. It didn't stand out as being a bad beer, but it did not stand out as being a great beer either. It's worth a try, but don't go out of your way for it.

The taste is malty and smooth with caramel and toffee flavors. It finishes with a good alcohol bite. The alcohol content is 6.7% ABV. I think that the Celebrator is an over the top excellent beer and I like how it comes with a little trinket on every bottle.

Weyerbacher Hotel

While out to dinner at Brew House, I ordered a glass of Weyerbacher Hotel. The Hotel is an Imperial Porter. It has a deep black color with a foamy tan head. The smell is full of chocolate and toasted malts. The taste consists of toasted malts and creamy milk chocolate. The alcohol content is 8.2% ABV. Overall, this is a very excellent beer. I think the alcohol content is perfect and not over powering, and the chocolate flavors are excellent. The milk chocolate finish also makes this a great dessert beer.

The taste is sweet and malty at first with caramel hints. It then turns to a lemony citrus flavor with a hop bite finish. I thought that this was a very well done beer with great hop accents. The alcohol content is 7.5% ABV. I really enjoyed this beer and thought the amount of hops put into the beer was perfect. It was very multidimensional and good.

Wild Goose Snow Goose Winter Ale

I picked up a bottle of Wild Goose Snow Goose Winter Ale at D's Six Pax and Dogz in Pittsburgh. The beer has an amber color with orange hues and a light tan head. The smell is sweet and malty with cinnamon. The taste is roasted malts and with caramel and it finishes with a warmth on the back on the tongue created from the hops. The alcohol content is 6.3% ABV. I thought this was a pretty decent beer. It had a great warmth and is pretty easy drinking.
